Though Randall Mario Poffo aka, Randy ?Macho Man? Savage never competed in a mixed martial arts bout, he was an undeniably influential and polarizing figure. While he didn?t suffer the bumps, bruises and cuts during MMA competition, he did indeed suffer those injuries just the same, all for the love of the crowd; it is for this reason we here at MMANews.com want to briefly honor the ?Macho Man?.

Poffo rose to prominence in the 1980?s, tearing his way through the World Wrestling Federation and gaining an abundance of notoriety stemming from a feud with fellow fan favorite Hulk Hogan. He won the WWF championship twice, the Intercontinental championship once, and also took the title of King of the Ring in 1987.

Poffo also appeared in numerous commercials, television show, animated series? and even a small handful of films. He may be best known to younger generations as the spokesman for Slim Jim.

Sadly, Savage?s life came to an end on May 20th. The former wrestler suffered a heart attack (and subsequent car accident) in Pinellas County, Florida around 9:25 a.m. while driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The outspoken icon was 58 years old.

Our condolences go out to friends and family.
