Guillard, fresh off of perhaps his most impressive victory in defeating Evan Dunham with knees against the cage at UFC Fight for the Troops 2 in January, is riding a four fight winning streak into this fight. Always having been considered a supreme talent, Guillard has gotten not only his fight career, but his life, back on track over the last couple of years, and he's poised to make a run towards the top of the division over the next year.
Roller is making strides for himself as well, fresh off of two highly impressive victories in a row. The 10-3 Roller has two losses under the Zuffa umbrella, to former WEC Champion Ben Henderson and final WEC Champion Anthony Pettis while in the UFC's sister organization, but a submission win over former champ Jamie Varner in November in his final WEC appearance had him entering the UFC on a high. He kept that momentum going with a knockout win over Thiago Tavares earlier this month at UFC on Versus 3.
UFC 132 is expected to take place in Las Vegas on July 2, though no headliner is yet set for that fight card.
Penick's Analysis: This is a really good fight for both fighters. Although Guillard could arguably be given a higher level opponent at this point off the win over Dunham, Roller is very dangerous and has been very good over his last several fights. Though he was defeated by Pettis in the waning seconds of their fight last August, he has posted wins in five of his last six fights, and all but one have come by stoppage. In fact, the sole decision win is the only time he's reached the judges. He's an extremely exciting fighter, as is Guillard, and this will be a really fun matchup in the lightweight division in July.
