His first stint as a replacement went well for him, and now Chris Weidman will once again take a spot as a replacement opponent in the UFC. The organization announced on Tuesday that Weidman will step in for the injured Court McGee against Jesse Bongfeldt at UFC 131 in Vancouver.

Weidman made his UFC debut in March as an injury replacement for Rafael Natal against Alessio Sakara. The 26-year-old two time NCAA D-1 wrestling All-American picked up his fifth straight win to open his MMA career with a three round decision over Sakara at UFC on Versus 3.

Bongfeldt will look to pick up his 22nd career win, and first in the Octagon, after his debut fight with the aforementioned Natal ended in a draw, snapping a seven fight winning streak that led to his contract with the UFC.

UFC 131 airs live on pay-per-view on June 11 from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, headlined by a heavyweight bout between Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos.

Penick's Analysis: Weidman had a very good performance against Sakara considering it was only his fifth career fight. He's now fighting another opponent with much more experience, but he's a very talented fighter with a great wrestling base and he'll be a very tough opponent for Bongfeldt. This is a good replacement pick and it should make for a good preliminary card fight.
