After a highly active campaign to educate both the public and the political authorities on the sport of MMA, UFC President Dana White announced today that the MMA legalization bill passed the Codes Committee in the New York State Assembly with a vote of 17 in favor against 1. Dana White has continuously announced throughout the year that the UFC organization has been strenuously working on pushing for the regulation bill to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and bring the sport of MMA to the Big Apple.

Yet even though quite a few obstacles have been already overcome in this on-going battle, the war is far from yet to be won as the bill moves on to yet more snags and hitches. Next in line comes the Ways and Means Committee which has stopped the bill dead in its tracks in years past and then, in the unlikely for many possibility that it does pass from thereon, it will be finally followed by a voting from the Rules Committee.

Though many believe the efforts to be futile and the bill?s future grim, White is far from giving up as he is rallying for public support with an article in today?s edition of the New York Daily News entitled ?N.Y., stop fighting this sport: Mixed martial arts is safe -- and our economy needs the kick.? In the article, the UFC President yet again brings forth his best arguments in favor of regulating the sport calling attention to the sport?s constant growth and commercial success and its unequivocal financial importance for the state of New York.
