UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez will be watching this weekend's UFC 131 main event intently, awaiting the result to find out whether he'll face Junior Dos Santos or Shane Carwin when he returns to action this fall.

The Champ took some time on Thursday afternoon to answer fan questions with ESPN's SportsNation online, and he predicted a winner for Saturday's fight, as well as how he quickly he believes the fight will be over.

"You know what? I could see both guys winning it, but who has the better chance right now, I would say Dos Santos," Velasquez said. "He's much better, quicker, more explosive, can box well. I give the advantage to Dos Santos."

"I don't see it going too long. I see it going in the first or second round. I think both hit hard. Both want to make it a stand up fight. I think Carwin wants to get those close punches in. I don't see it getting past the second round."

Velasquez is hoping he'll be back in the cage as early as this October's UFC 136 event, and though he's giving the edge to Dos Santos heading into Saturday's fights, he's just hoping to face the best opponent possible when he returns.

"I think they're both similar fighters," he said. "I think they'll both try to keep it standing [in a fight with me]. Dos Santos is a more athletic heavyweight. They're both strong. It's a toss up. Both are better at certain things. But it doesn't matter. I want to fight the best guy. The best guy Saturday is who I want to fight."

Penick's Analysis: Whichever fighter comes out of Saturday's event, it will make for a huge Heavyweight Title this fall. Both Carwin and Dos Santos have a habit of immensely exciting and entertaining fights, and Velasquez is right in that mix, so whatever happens I can't wait to see either against the champion later this year. The UFC will just have to hope that Velasquez's lengthy layoff won't kill the momentum he gained from defeating Brock Lesnar last October, and if it doesn't it will make for a big selling pay-per-view event when he comes back.
