UFC 138: Barao wrecks Pickett with huge knee

Renan Barao is for real. The Brazilian's won 27 fights in a row. Today he added Brad Pickett to his list of victims.

A Barao knee was the beginning of the end for Pickett. He couldn't hold off the onslaught and eventually submitted because of a rear-naked choke at 4:09 of the first round.

"I fought really hard and had a great camp. My power, technique, skill was all fantastic and I couldn't be happier with this win against a tough opponent," said Barao.

Pickett is a dangerous striker, but Barao was more than willing from the start to brawl with him. The first two minutes were highly entertaining with the fighters coming together every few seconds and throwing recklessly at each other. But it was the much faster Barao winning many of the exchanges.

Barao wasn't hurting Pickett, so the Brit began to try and walk through the shots that's when he got caught by a nasty knee right on the chin with 1:55 left in the first.

Pickett stopped in his tracks, took another quick right and then absorbed a lightning quick five-punch combination that floored. He was fighting for survival on the ground and tried to scramble on his knees. Barao alertly jumped on his back and almost immediately slapped on a body lock.

Pickett (20-6, 0-1 UFC) did a solid job of avoiding the choke for few seconds before Barao latch his right arm across the Brit's face. It wasn't really a choke, but the pressure on Pickett's jaw was too much to take and he tapped.

Pickett and Barao received the Fight of the Night bonus for their effort good for $70,000.
