Etim hasn't fought in the Octagon since a loss to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 112 in April of 2010. A series of injuries have kept him sidelined since then, but he's finally been cleared, and will look to pick up his sixth win in the Octagon. The 25-year-old is 5-3 in eight appearances, a stretch that included a four fight win streak prior to the loss to dos Anjos.
Faaloloto has lost two straight fights under the Zuffa banner, getting taken out by Anthony Njokuani at WEC 52 last year and then suffering a first round TKO loss to Michael Johnson in his UFC debut at UFC on Versus 4. A loss in this fight likely sends him out of the organization.
Omigawa is in a similar situation. After losing both of his UFC fights in 2007 and 2008, Omigawa moved to the featherweight division and made a name for himself in Japan. However, since returning to the organization this year, he's lost two fights by decision to Chad Mendes and Darren Elkins, though there was an uproar about Elkins being given the decision at UFC 131. He's in desperate need of a win in any case, and he's got a tough test in Young.
Young made his UFC debut on that UFC 131 card in June, giving Dustin Poirier a tough fight but dropping a decision. The loss was the British featherweights fourth in a 12 fight career, though he's won four of his last six.
The event takes place from the LG Arena in Birmingham on November 5, headlined by a middleweight bout between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz. The card will air via same-day delay in the U.S. on Spike TV.
Penick's Analysis: These are two very good fights for this event. Etim has had a lot of really good performances in the UFC, and it's been unfortunate that injuries have kept him out of action well over a year, but this return fight is good for him. Faaloloto is a tough fight, but he's a bit of a warm-up for Etim after a lengthy layoff. Omigawa-Young is a good featherweight fight, and Young is going to make it difficult for Omigawa to halt his current slide.
