Fabricio Werdum Twitterbombs Dana White for spot on Rio card

The UFC is headed back to Brazil in January, and there is one fighter who would really like to be on the card. Strikeforce's Fabricio Werdum, the man who beat Fedor Emelianenko, has taken to Twitter to convince the UFC president to include Werdum. He asked his followers to tweet Dana White #WERDUMUFCRIO2 to convince him.

They happily turned out. Werdum's followers filled White's mentions with at least 100 tweets, all tagged wth #WERDUMUFCRIO2. Finally, White had to acknowledge the barrage.

The card will be headlined by a championship bout between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes, and the other announced fights so far are Vitor Belfort vs. Anthony Johnson, Sam Stout vs. Thiago Tavares, and Edson Barboza vs. Terry Etim.

In the past, there would be barriers to bringing him over to the UFC, but Zuffa's purchase of Strikeforce would simplify it. His last stint with the UFC ended after a loss to Junior dos Santos and a contract dispute. While with Strikeforce, Werdum scored big wins over Emelianenko and Antonio Silva, but lost to Alistair Overeem in June. Werdum has not fought since then.

The UFC's August trip to Rio was a huge success in part because they filled the card with popular Brazilian fighters. The loud, raucous crowd went even crazier every time a Brazilian fighter won. Imagine how they would erupt for Werdum.
